Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about treatment at KCA Advisors

If substance use is negatively impacting your health, relationships, work, or quality of life, treatment can help. Other signs include unsuccessful attempts to quit, withdrawal symptoms when not using, increased tolerance, neglecting responsibilities, and continued use despite consequences. Our admissions team can conduct a confidential assessment to help determine the appropriate level of care for your situation.

Treatment duration varies based on individual needs and progress. Medical detox typically lasts 3-7 days. Residential treatment programs range from 30-90 days, with 30 days being most common. Outpatient programs (PHP, IOP, standard outpatient) can last several weeks to several months. Our clinical team will work with you to determine the optimal length of treatment and appropriate transitions between levels of care.

Medical detox at our Belton facility involves 24/7 monitoring by our medical staff as your body safely eliminates substances. You'll receive medications to manage withdrawal symptoms and prevent complications. Our nursing team monitors vital signs, provides comfort measures, and ensures your safety throughout the process. Detox takes place in a comfortable, supportive environment with private rooms and attentive care.

Cell phone policies vary by level of care. In residential treatment, phones are typically held by staff and made available during designated times to allow for important calls while minimizing distractions during early recovery. In outpatient programs, you may have your phone with you. We encourage discussing phone policies with our admissions team when planning your treatment.

Family involvement is an important part of recovery. We offer family therapy sessions, educational workshops, and visiting hours. The extent of family participation depends on your preferences and clinical recommendations. Our family program coordinator helps families understand addiction, develop healthy communication skills, and build supportive relationships that strengthen recovery.

KCA Advisors offers a comprehensive range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-focused therapies (EMDR, trauma-focused CBT), group therapy, family therapy, and 12-step facilitation. We also incorporate holistic therapies like yoga, meditation, art therapy, and fitness programs. Your treatment plan will include modalities tailored to your specific needs.

Yes. Our dual diagnosis program provides integrated treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. We have psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists trained in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and others alongside addiction. Addressing both conditions simultaneously leads to better outcomes and more sustainable recovery.

Yes. We offer medication-assisted treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders. Our medical director can prescribe medications like buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone (Vivitrol), and disulfiram when clinically appropriate. MAT is combined with counseling and behavioral therapies for comprehensive treatment. Our physicians provide ongoing medication management and monitoring throughout your treatment.

Residential treatment is an inpatient program where you live at our facility 24/7 while receiving intensive therapy and support. This level of care provides structure, removes you from triggers, and allows full focus on recovery. Outpatient treatment allows you to live at home and attend therapy sessions at our Belton facility during the day or evening. Outpatient is appropriate for those with stable home environments, less severe addiction, or those stepping down from residential care.

Our admissions team conducts a thorough assessment to determine the appropriate level of care based on factors including severity of addiction, substance type, medical needs, mental health status, home environment, support system, and previous treatment history. We follow ASAM criteria (American Society of Addiction Medicine) to match you with the level of care that best meets your needs.

Absolutely. All treatment at KCA Advisors is confidential and protected by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations specific to substance use disorder treatment. We cannot confirm or deny your presence at our facility without your written consent. Your privacy is our priority, and our staff is trained in confidentiality protocols.

Yes. You can continue taking prescribed medications for medical or mental health conditions. Bring all medications in their original prescription bottles to admission. Our medical director will review your medications, verify prescriptions with your providers if needed, and ensure continuity of care. All medications are managed by our nursing staff for safety.

We provide three nutritious, chef-prepared meals daily plus snacks. Our menu includes a variety of healthy options to support physical recovery. We accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and preferences including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and religious dietary requirements. Good nutrition is an important part of the healing process.

Yes. We have designated visiting hours, typically on weekends, when family and approved visitors can come to our facility. Visiting policies may vary during your first week as you adjust to treatment. All visitors must be pre-approved by clinical staff. We encourage family involvement and provide comfortable spaces for visits.

Our residential program is co-ed, but living quarters are separated by gender. We maintain appropriate boundaries and supervision. Some therapy groups may be gender-specific to address issues unique to men or women in recovery. Our facility is designed to be safe and comfortable for all clients.

Aftercare planning begins early in treatment. Before discharge, we'll help you arrange continued support including step-down to a lower level of care (like outpatient), connection to 12-step or other support groups, sober living recommendations, outpatient therapy referrals, and psychiatric care if needed. We also offer alumni programming to support long-term recovery. Our team remains available to support you after you leave our facility.

Treatment costs vary based on the level of care and length of stay. Most costs are covered by insurance - we accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Magellan, Tricare, Medicare, Medicaid, and many other plans. Our admissions team will verify your insurance benefits and provide a detailed explanation of your coverage, including any copays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket costs. For self-pay clients, we offer payment plans and financing options.

We can help arrange transportation to our Belton facility for clients who need it. This may include coordination with medical transport companies or assistance arranging travel from the airport. Contact our admissions team to discuss transportation options when planning your admission.

Recovery is a personal journey, and success looks different for each individual. We measure success through various outcomes including treatment completion rates, client satisfaction, and long-term sobriety data. We're committed to providing the highest quality care and use evidence-based practices proven to improve outcomes. We track our clients' progress and continuously improve our programming to maximize effectiveness.

Treatment is voluntary, and you can leave at any time (unless court-ordered). However, we strongly encourage completing your full treatment program for the best outcomes. If you're considering leaving early, we'll work with you to address concerns, modify your treatment plan if needed, and ensure you have a safe discharge plan. Premature discharge significantly increases the risk of relapse.

We're here to support both you and your loved one.
